Local people will have a unique opportunity to buy a work of art from a well-known artist for just £35, at the forthcoming Secret Art Sale at West House from November 7th-8th.
Volunteers have come up with the idea to raise funds for the Heath Robinson Museum, currently under construction next door, in Pinner Memorial Park.
On the weekend of 7th-8th November they will be selling works of art from local and national artists – but the name of the artist will be withheld. It could be a work by a well-known illustrator or even a musician; or from a talented local artist.
Children’s Laureate and Guardian cartoonist Chris Riddell, a big Heath Robinson fan, has already agreed to contribute a work. Jazz musician Darius Brubeck, who will be playing in Pinner Parish Church that weekend, is also taking part. Purchasers will find out who produced their chosen work when they take away the picture at the end of the sale.
‘We wanted to include work from many different people,’ explained Ann Kopka, who is curating the exhibition and contributing her own work. Kopka has exhibited locally, in the UK and US including a solo exhibition at the Barbican. ‘We are so lucky with the artistic excellence in this area, and with over 100 artists taking part there will be something for everyone.’
The Sale will be open from 10am-6pm on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th November in the Upstairs Gallery at West House, Pinner Memorial Park, Pinner HA5 1AE. Admission is free.
