The Art of the Russian Revolution
20 October @ 9:45 am - 2:30 pm£28
The work of Russian artists was central to the Russian Revolution and representations of the new Soviet society. Today we’ll trace the developments of Russian art – from the landscapes of Isaak Levitan to the avant-garde experiments of Natalya Goncharova, from Kazimir Malevich’s abstract Black Square to the ‘new realism’ of Alexander Deineka – exploring these radical paintings within their social and historical contexts.
Dr ML Banting is an independent researcher of art history and visual culture currently working on 19th and 20th century artists’ groups and colonies.
